SVĚTLÁ NAD SÁZAVOU (September 7) - A correctional officer from Světlá nad Sázavou Prison, Czech Republic, attended the World Police and Fire Games 2023 in Winnipeg, Canada.

Mr. Miroslav Varga was one of almost 7.500 contestants at the Games. His main race was a triathlon - 1.5km swim, 40km bicycle, 10km run. Miroslav's outstanding performance brought him a wonderful second place! The result is not that unbelievable when you know that Miroslav finished fourth at the Games in Chinese Chengdu in 2019.

Miroslav had also participated at other World Police and Fire Games in the past where he represented the Czech Prison Service in Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling with placements including gold, silver, and bronze medals. Currently, Miroslav is a keen triathlonist.

The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial athletic event, open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel throughout the world.
