OFFENDER EMPLOYMENT PROJECT ON TRACK TO BEAT TARGET

PRAGUE/UK 11th August - A NOMS project to enable offenders and ex-offenders to access employment services and enter the labour market is set to exceed its targets.
And not only is it beating its target of 30,000 programme starts, it's also making a real difference to offenders and their families. One mother recently wrote to thank a case worker for getting her ‘real son back again'.
The NOMS Co-Financing Organisation (CFO) received £45million of European Social Fund money to help with phase one of the Offender Employment Project, which launched last year. NOMS CFO uses a range of providers and sub-contractors to fill gaps in existing mainstream employment and skills services which are often difficult for offenders to access. The providers include probation trusts, private sector businesses, voluntary and community groups and social enterprises.
