RULES FOR RECEIVING PACKAGES
The convict is entitled to receive a package of food and personal items up to 5kg weight twice a year, usually on the occasion of birthdays and Christmas.

RULES OF VISITING
The prisoner has the right to be visited by close persons in a total time of 3 hours during one calendar month at times determined by the Prison Governor. Unless the Internal Prison Rules set a higher number of visitors, the prisoner may be visited by up to four persons including young children at one time. Children under 15 years of age may only attend a visit if accompanied by a person older 18 years of age.

RULES OF PRISONER´S PHONE CONTACT
The prisoner is allowed in reasoned cases to use a phone to contact a close person. In order to support a remedy of the prisoner or for other serious reason prisoner may be allowed to use a phone to contact other person than a close person. The phone charges are paid by the prisoner.

UNIFIED MODEL OF TREATMENT OF LIFE-SENTENCED PRISONERS
In 2009 the Director General of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic (PS CR) approved a pilot project „Creation and verification of an effectiveness of a new model of a long-term treatment of life-sentenced prisoners focused on decreasing their dangerousness“ in three prisons. Specialists from the Department of a Pre-trail Detention and Imprisonment at the General Headquarters of the PS CR and from prisons Valdice, Karviná and Mírov jointly suggested a testing of the Unified model of treatment of life-sentenced prisoners.
